Program Coordinator

Galveston Center for Innovation and Transformation (GCIT)

The Galveston Center for Innovation and Transformation (GCIT) is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the development and growth of its programs in Galveston and the surrounding region.

GCIT is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2019 as a supplemental entity to the Galveston Economic Development Partnership (GEDP)—a 501(c)(6) membership-based organization comprised of individuals, businesses, and public and governmental entities, with a mission to grow Galveston’s economy while enhancing the community’s quality of life.

The purpose of GCIT is to develop programs and initiatives that drive sustainable development for the citizens and businesses of the greater Galveston region. Its focus areas include:

  • Emerging technology

  • Information clearinghouse

  • Infill redevelopment

  • Business continuity and resiliency

  • Disaster preparedness and recovery

Job Description

This full-time, salaried position is ideal for a dedicated professional eager to learn and grow into the role. The work involves administrative support, community outreach, and socio-economic research.

We are seeking a candidate with strong attention to detail, independence, and a drive to excel. Backgrounds in data science or business administration are preferred. A demonstrated interest in collaborative work aimed at creating vibrant, thriving communities is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate outreach and committee meetings

  • Support educational events

  • Assist with development of educational materials and data resources

  • Conduct research and analysis via databases, surveys, and direct contacts

  • Aid in the creation and management of new and expanded programs

  • Participate in regional planning efforts

  • Prepare financial and technical reports

  • Maintain accurate and organized financial and program records

  • Respond to information requests

  • Work independently and collaboratively

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in socio-economic programs, business administration, or data science

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Effective project management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience with QuickBooks and CRM systems a plus

Position Details

  • Salary: $35,000 – $45,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

  • Location: 1700 Strand, Galveston, Texas (on-site only)

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, full-time. Some early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends may be required.
